Kaselakis: “We have a big qualification ahead of us, a hot group with six finals”

by

THE Leonidas Kaselakis spoke on EEC web radio, both about this year’s Peristeri bwin season and about the team’s qualification to the phase of the “16” of the BCLas well as for the National team and Vassilis Spanoulis.

Leonidas Kaselakis’ statements in detail:

For games with Rita: “We knew from the beginning that they are a very good team. As the structure of the Basketball Champions League is, you start very early and play “final” matches. This makes you get ready faster to find chemistry and roles, because you are forced to do it. However, this can also be a risk of being out of the event early. We knew early on that the road would be difficult. But with a great victory in the group against Falco and then with a “double” against Rita, we had the situation in our hands and with the victory at our “home” we were able to qualify. We have ahead of us a big qualification, a “fire” group, which has 6 “final” matches”.

For this year’s season of Peristeri, compared to last year: “Last year we found chemistry faster, but every year is different. In general, big wins give the team morale and this keeps it on a high “track”. There are milestone games, like the one in Ritas, where you understand that if each player does specific and individual things for the team, the team can have a very good result.”

For PAOK’s match against Tofas, which follows the poor performance against Peristeri: “It is definitely a difficult result to manage, especially in a team like PAOK that has people and pressure behind them. On the other hand, this can be an extra incentive for the players to enter “with a knife in their teeth”, to impose pressure on the defense from the start and with the power of the crowd to get the psychology of the game. This depends on how PAOK enters. I personally would have a great motivation to “erase” such an appearance with a great success by qualifying to the “16”.

For the National Team: “Not even Vassilis Spanoulis is thinking about it, he will think about it when the time comes. He knows very well when the time will come, he has everything studied in “boxes” and planned. Right now both he and I are 100% committed to the next match of Peristeri, I don’t think we have the national team in mind. But when the time comes, it is our honor and our pleasure to see what we can do for the team that unites the Greeks, I mean players and fans, to keep the bar high and bring the successes it deserves.”
