Vassilis Barkas spoke about his move from AEK to Celtic and commented on the experiences he had there. At the same time, he commented on the conditions he faced, while he described the environment in the Scottish team as unsuitable for a goalkeeper.
“At Celtic I didn’t feel like I was an important part of the team. Maybe it wasn’t even the team’s fault. It was the year of the coronavirus and everything was different. In the first six months I didn’t know my teammates, we were in separate locker rooms. Celtic are a massive club but I don’t recommend any goalkeeper to go there“, stressed the Greek footballer.
Barkas moved to Scotland in July 2020 and then played on loan at Utrecht. His very good performances led the Dutch club to acquire him permanently as a free agent. This year he is going through a very productive year, he counts 16 appearances in the championship and even found himself in the top eleven of December together with Vangelis Pavlidis.
