From Security Forces Internal Affairs Service was arrested on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, a police officer – administrator of the Attica Police Department for dereliction of duty, embezzlement and violation of the laws related to weapons and their use by police officers.

In particular, in the context of a regular armament check carried out by a gunsmith yesterday, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in Police Department of Atticadeficiencies were found in hand weapons, which were charged to the above police officer – administrator of the Department.

The Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces was immediately informed, from the investigation of which it emerged that -6- service pistols, -4- service revolvers as well as the private personal revolver of the aforementioned police officer were missing.

The police officer was arrested as he was unable to justify the lack of weapons, as the manager of financial, financial and material affairs and the exclusive holder of the key to the public material storage area of ​​the Police Department.

From the physical search as well as from the searches of his office, houses and vehicles, the following were found and seized:

-2- hunting rifles, with an expired possession permit,

mobile phone as well

-41- cartridges of various calibres, a bulletproof vest and a police baton, which he possessed illegally as there was no service charge for them and the caliber of the cartridges differed from that of his personal armament.

The arrested person, with the case filed against him, was taken to the competent prosecutor’s office, while the investigations into the location of the weapons and the control of the other public materials of the police service continue.
