At 66 million euros again this year, the funding of sports from the Bet-How are the amounts distributed

by

The Joint Ministerial Decision (with the Ministry of Finance) on the distribution, terms and conditions of payment of the 2024 funding, from the taxation of the profits of gambling players, to amateur and professional sports, was signed by the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yannis Vroutsisafter collaboration with the CEO, Giorgos Mavrotas.

The amount that will be distributed to the 6,533 registered amateur associations of the whole country, to the National Teams of all sports, to PAE, KAE, TAA and to the Organizing Committees of the EKO Rally Acropolis and the PPC Cycling Tour of Greece, again this year amounts to 66 million euros.

For the first time, in the aid criteria insularity is taken into account as a priority. Thus, unions across the Territory that are based on islands (and do not have a road connection with mainland Greece) will receive funding increased by 50%, as Mr. Vroutsis had promised, from the first day of assuming his duties. In addition, for associations of islands with less than 3,100 inhabitants, as well as for associations with disabilities, the minimum aid amount is 1,700 euros, while for all other associations it was determined at 1,000.

Please note that in order for eligible teams to collect funding, they must have at least an equal amount of funding income from sponsorships, advertising, television rights, membership fees and tickets (regular and season tickets). In the event that the amount of their income from other sources is less than the amount of funding they were entitled to and received, then the excess is offset with a subsequent payment.

Also, from the amount collected by the teams, a percentage of at least 50% must be allocated for the development of their “nurseries” (coaches of academies, age groups and development programs, expenses of matches, transport, sports equipment and other expenses of academies and age groups ), but also for the maintenance, modernization, improvement and strengthening of the facilities and infrastructure, which they use for the purposes of the sports they cultivate (matches, trainings, development departments, etc.).

The 66 million euros are distributed as follows:

– Rate of 3.4% equal to

* Organizing Committee of Motor Sports Events (Motorsport Greece)

* Organizing Committee of the International Cycling Tour of Greece (Cycling Greece)

– 48.3% rate in professional sports:

* 66% in SL (equal allocation to PAEs, corresponding to approximately EUR 1.5 million each)

* 9.5% in SL2 (equal allocation to the PAEs except for the B’ groups of the PAEs of SL1, the total amount is increased by approximately 500,000 euros compared to last year)

* 16% in Basket League (90% equally in the 12 KAE and the remaining 10% proportionally for those participating in European competitions)

* 8.5% in Volley League (9/12 equally in TAA and 3/12 proportionally for those participating in European competitions)

It is emphasized that the payment of any amount of money to AAE or TAA is suspended, in case it is in the process of evaluating a report for participation in match manipulation by the National Sports Integrity Platform. If the case of a match rigged under evaluation is put on file by EPATHLA, the suspension of funding payment ceases.

In the event that the match-fixing case under evaluation is forwarded to the competent sports disciplinary body, then the suspension remains in effect until an exculpatory decision is issued by the disciplinary body. If a final conviction is issued by the sports body’s disciplinary body, the penalized AAE or penalized TAA permanently loses the right to this funding.

However, if an AAE or TAA that received the funding is subsequently included in a report for the current or any previous season and a final conviction is issued by the competent sports disciplinary body, the AAE or TAA is obliged to return the amount received for the season to which the conviction relates.

– Rate of 48.3% in amateur sports:

* 26% in the national categories of team sports, equally in the participating teams, taking into account the size and distinctions of each sport, the level of competition, the historicity of each category and the number of official national and local competitions by gender, after previously subtracting a percentage of 7% which is attributed to the organizing authorities:

As mentioned above, for the first time insularity is also taken into account in the aid criteria. Thus, associations based on islands (and not connected by road to mainland Greece, such as Cyclades, Dodecanese, Lesvos, Samos, Crete, Sporades, etc.) will receive the funding attributable to them, increased by 50%. In addition, for associations of islands with less than 3,100 inhabitants, as well as for associations with disabilities, the minimum aid amount is 1,700 euros, while for all other associations it was determined at 1,000 euros.
