In a game that was a thriller throughout, Vassilis Spanoulis’ team escaped with the double from “Dimitris Tofalos” with score 81-75 in overtime for the 15th matchday of the Stoiximan Basket League, catching the Patrinos at 9-6 and the third place!

For Ilias Papatheodorou’s team, the standouts were: Hale and Coffee with 23 and 15 points respectively.

The match:

The start of the match was quite nervous from both teams, with many mistakes and missed shots dominating the first period of the match. With Thompson scoring the game’s first basket three minutes into the game, Peristeri bwin took a 3-0 lead, before Koniaris, Cowan and Coffey responded for Prometheus and Patrina’s lead 7-5 in the 6th minute. Dagubic and Mitrou-Long attacked the visitors, who ended the first quarter in front of the score with a short header (10-11).

The pace was better in second periodwhere Vassilis Spanoulis’ team came in strong and thanks to a quick 9-0 run by Renfro and Mitrou-Long, increased the difference to +10 for 20-10 at 12′. With five collected points by Coffey and a three-pointer from Cowan, Prometheus “gnawed” the difference (20-24) at 17′, with Peristeri responding with Love and Dagubic for +7 (22-29). With a three-pointer by Koniaris in the final, the home team narrowed the gap, with both teams going to the locker room with score 25-29.

As in the second period, so also in the third, the guests entered with energy and willingness to run the field and find free shots. Something they achieved, since, with three consecutive three-pointers of Kaselakis, Dagubic and Rungland, again raised the difference to double digits (28-38), before the latter, with another three-pointer, sent the difference at +12 for 43-31 in 24′! However, the accumulated fouls and mistakes of Peristeri bwin in the rest of the period, allowed Ilias Papatheodorou’s team to reduce the score and re-enter the match. It is characteristic that with a 10-0 run in the last three minutes, the home team closed the quarter at -5 for 48-43.

The excellent finish in the third period gave the necessary psychological boost to Prometheus, who entered the fourth quarter strongly and with five points by Hale and a three-pointer by Reynolds, went ahead after a long time (54-51)! Somewhere there, Kenny Williams, who had been absent until this point, took Peristeri on his back and with eleven consecutive personal points (!), gave his team the lead again (58-62) in the 36th minute. The home team did not give up and with a continuous counterattack in the finale they went ahead (70-68), before Love equalized in 70-70 at 42” before the end. Both teams missed their final attacks, leading to a draw in overtime.

In the extra five minutes, the bwin Pigeon proved to be more cool and with 6 points from Williams and 5 from Rungland, managed to reach the victory with final score 81-75.
