From four… to five, the supersonic PAOK will fly!
After the two “4s” against PAS Ioannina and Panserraikos in the league and Cup respectively, his team Razvan Lucescu raised its “tariff”, with the “bicephalic of the north” going through with it emphatic 5-1 from Panthessaliko and its headquarters Volosfor the 19th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League!
With a great protagonist Despodov who scored two goals, and Murg, Tyson and Jima adding a goal each, the Thessalonians reached the 89 goals this season (!), climbing – even temporarily – to top of the leaderboard and at +3 from the second Panathinaikos who play in a short time with Asteras Tripoli.
In the coach’s mind:
THE Angel Lopez lined up Volos with a 4-2-3-1 system. Kostic was found under the posts, with Myga, Rasic, Kalogeropoulos and Luna making up the foursome of the defense. Sielis and Tzokanis started in the midfielder positions, with Barrientos, Glavcic and Deletic making up the midfield trio, behind the only promoted Moraitis.
On the other hand, Mr Razvan Lucescu, which saw Konstantelias stay out of the mission due to perhaps, took down PAOK with the classic 4-2-3-1. Kotarski was in goal, with Sastre, Kenziora, Michaelidis and Baba starting in the defensive four. Meite and Ozdoev found themselves in the center of midfield, with Despontov and Tyson moving on the two wings and Murg in a free role behind forward Brandon Thomas.
The match
The first minutes of the match were recognizable, with PAOK on the part of having possession and him Bullet on the other hand, to press correctly and high up the opposing lines, even proceeding to many steals and recoveries of the ball.
From the very first minutes, the game had enough tension and nerves, but also strong marks from both teams. Despite the fact that the pace was relatively good, the first phase of the race came in the 18th minute for PAOK with Kostic punching away his long shot Despodovas a result of the competitive rise of the “biceps” in the last minutes of the match.
In the 22nd minute, Razvan Lucescu’s team opened the scoring, naturally taking advantage of inactivity of the defense of Volos. In particular, Kenziora made the deep ball at the back of the defense, Luna and Rasic could not clear the ball, with Despodov to become a holder inside the area and with a nice strong shot to do it 1-0 for Thessaloniki!
Four minutes later, the home side’s first moment of the game came with his long and mistimed shot Glavcic. In fact, a little later, he won a free kick in a good spot from Michaelidis’ marking. The Serb committed the foul, with Fly to send the ball into the net from close range with the shoulder for 1-1 at 29′. However, after checking the phase that lasted five minutes the referee, Katsikogiannis, saw the phase in VAR and canceled the goal for offside by Moraitisconsidering that it affects the phase.
And while the game lost its rhythm with the short stoppage, o Brandon Thomas he almost caught the home team asleep at the resumption of the match, with the powerful shot of the Spanish forward of PAOK from the height of the large area stopping in the right beam of Volos.
Volos then increased its pressure resulting in steal balls and to create dangers in front of Kotarski’s frames, without however worrying the Polish keeper particularly, apart from Deletic’s weak shot in the 43rd minute. And while everything showed that this is how the first half would end, o PAOK found a second one before the break. The “two-headed man of the north” took advantage of Tsokani’s mistake in Tyson’s turn from the right, with the ball laying in Murgwho with a nice shot in the opposite corner, “wrote” it 2-0 in the first minute of stoppage time! In fact, at the end of the half, Meite touched the goal in transition, with the strong shot that he tried to go just wide.
With…acquired speed he entered the second half PAOK, who produced runs and energy, creating good moments in the opponent’s area with the… good evening of the replay. In the 50th minute, Sastre’s shot went wide after a corner kick, while, a minute later, Ozdoev was defeated in four-a-four by Kostic, with Volos’ Serbian keeper conceding a corner. From this set-up, PAOK’s third goal came, with the smart combination of the guests and the laying of Murg ending ideally with a terrible place outside the area Despodov for 0-3 at 52!
From that point and for the next quarter, o Marble he skyrocketed his performance, searching with intensity and passion for a goal that would put him back – even theoretically – within the reach of a positive result. In the 55th minute, the hosts threatened with Sieli’s header, while seconds later, his Deletich from a lateral position he went just wide. Eventually, the Serbian midfielder from Volos was rewarded for his effort, reducing to 3-1 in the 58th minute in close-up, after a nice parallel shot by Glavcic. In fact, in the 62′, he had two more moments with the shots of Barrientos and Asechnoun.
The last twenty minutes of the game belonged entirely to PAOK, with Lucescu resting players by refreshing his eleven, which resulted in the team’s promotion. In the 71st minute and after a duration phase in the opposing frames, o Tyson with the help of the opposition, he wrote the 4-1 with his first goal in the league!
The “icing on the cake came to be put by Mr Stefanos Tzimas in the 89th minute, with the Thessalonians coming out quickly in transition, with Tyson stealing and carrying the ball for many meters, passing at the right moment to the young forward, who with a beautiful finish wrote the final 5-1!
MVP: The leader of the match was Kirill Despodov, who scored two goals in the 22nd minute for 1-0 and in the 51st minute for 3-0, effectively sealing PAOK’s victory.
The… whistle: Both the referee of the match, Mr. Katsikogiannis, and the VAR, Mr. Zambalas, had many difficult phases to manage. They are being checked for letting the game get rough at times with marking. There is also the phase with the canceled goal of Volos in the first half and with the score at 1-0 for PAOK.
The elevens:
Volos (Angel Lopez): Kostic, Mygas, Rasic, Kalogeropoulos (46′ Kitsos), Luna (46′ Asechnoun), Sielis, Tsokanis (62′ Bertolio), Barrientos (80′ Metaxas), Glavcsits, Deletics, Moraitis.
