Celtics swept in Miami, crash for Nuggets in New York

They are impressive Celticsconsolidated their position at the top of the NBA (35-10) dismantling the Miami Heat 143-110. Joe Mazzula’s team trashed the home team’s defense with 22/40 three-pointers (!) and seven double-digit scorers. Jayson Tatum had 26 points, while Kristaps Porzingis, who played only 21 minutes with a sprained ankle, added 19. Bam Adebayo and Tyler Hiro each had 19 points and Jimmy Butler added 17 for Miami, which lost its fifth game in a row and is now seventh in the East (24-21).

The Pacers stopped the Sixers 134-122, with Pascal Siakam posting a triple-double with 26 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, while Tyrese Haliburton celebrated his first All-Star Game appearance but did not play due to injury. Joel Embiid with 31 and Tyrese Maxey with 22 points were not enough for Philadelphia, which fell to 29-14 and is behind the Celtics (35-10) and Bucks (31-13).

Within breathing distance of the Sixers arrived the Knicks (28-17) outscoring the Nuggets 122-84. Anunoby with 26 and Brunson with 21 points led the New Yorkers, who forced the champions to their heaviest loss this year. Nikola Jokic struggled with 31 points and 11 rebounds, but didn’t have much help.

The Timberwolves are back on top of the West (32-13), ahead of the Thunder (31-13) edging out Brooklyn 96-94. Their weapon was the defense, while in the attack, Carl Anthony Towns took over the work with 27 and Anthony Edwards with 24 points.

The Warriors they lost even more ground for the play ins. They lost 134-133 to the Kings in San Francisco and are 19-23, twelfth in the West. Harrison Barnes had a career-high 39 points for Sacramento, which played without the injured Sasha Vezenkov. Steph Curry with 33 and Jonathan Cuminga with 31 points were not enough for the hosts.

The Lakers pressed hard in tenth place (23-23) beating the Bulls 141-132. D’Angelo Russell had 29 points, LeBron James followed with 25 and 12 assists, while Anthony Davis had 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. For Chicago, DeMar DeRozan had 32 points and 10 assists.
