Medvedev’s epic upset against Zverev and qualification to the final of the Australian Open

After a sensational race that lasted 4 hours and 18 minutes, Mr Daniel Medvedev advanced to the final of the Australian Open, defeating him by an upset Sasha Zverevas he came back from 0-2 down to take two sets in the tiebreak.

The Russian, number 3 in the world rankings, saw the German (No6) take the first two sets 5-7 and 3-6, but he did not give up. He managed to take the next two sets, 7-6 (4) and 7-6 (5), while in the fifth and last set he made the break at the right point and reached the victory by conquering it 6-3.

Medvedev reached the final of this Grand Slam for the third time in his career, after those in 2021 and 2022. He will now try to get his first title in Melbourne and second Grand Slam of his career, after the 2021 US Open .If he succeeds, will return to number 2 in the world rankingsbehind Novak Djokovic and displacing Carlos Alcarath.

His opponent in Sunday’s grand final (10:30) will be Yannick Sinner (Italy, No4)who earlier made the big surprise by knocking out ten-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic.
