«Our healthy boy, Maverick Sai Antetokunbo, was born on August 18th. Before we had children, Giannis and I had decided that what we do for one of our children, we will do for the others, as much as possible of course. When Liam was born, our family and friends had two fantastic parties to celebrate his arrival. They blessed us with everything you can imagine for the arrival of our first boy in the world. When we found out we were going to have another son, 18 months after Liam was born, we knew in advance what was needed. But John and I agreed to celebrate the birth of our second son as well as the first. That’s when the idea of ​​’The Maverick Diaper Mission’ was born. An initiative for diapers. In the process of winning the title, raising a baby and being seven months pregnant, I could not organize this initiative before his birth, but we were determined to celebrate his birth by helping society.
When I became a mother I realized how expensive the basic needs for babies and children are. Diapers, baby wipes, food, etc., should be accessible to all families. I realize that I am privileged and lucky to be able to meet these basic needs. With this privilege, I believe it is also my duty to give back to the family and help other moms and families to provide the basics for their children’s needs.
