Doc Rivers: “Why did I choose the Bucks? Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, that’s the answer”

A new era has passed Milwaukee Buckswho hired Doc Rivers as Adrian Griffin’s replacement.

The experienced technician was introduced by the “deer” through a press conferenceduring which he commented on the reasons he chose his new one clubreferred to targets with her, but also with his staff motivation after so many years of career.

For the reasons he chose the Bucks: “You know the answer. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, that’s the answer. Look at the team. The other is that they built their team with veterans and their improved players. I told myself that if I joined a team at this stage of the season, I would have the best chance to integrate and make things happen quickly with this type of team.”

On taking over a team in the middle of the season: “It’s a real challenge that will present itself. We need to organize quickly. We should not try to do too much too soon. We are in the middle of a season so we have to try to keep our pace. There are changes to be made, no doubt about it. We will start working on it right away.”

For his own motivation: “I don’t know if I have anything else to prove other than wanting to win. I like to win. I love being in these situations. I’ve known everything, I’ve really experienced everything as a coach. That’s the great thing about this job. There are many ups and downs, and you always work and learn from those experiences. Ultimately, this is a league built on relationships. As a coach, your job is to make certain players do things they don’t want to do. You’re not going to be popular all the time and that’s okay, you have to accept that when you take on a leadership role, it’s part of the process. If you can get everyone on the same page, then you can succeed.”
