Marinakis: “We cannot predict when the investigation into Rentis will be completed”

by

Within the next few days, the legislative intervention to prevent fan violence is expected to be voted on in the Parliament, as informed by Pavlos Marinakis, while pointing out that the investigations into incidents in Rentis continue and no one knows what is going to happen regarding the matter of finding the moral perpetrators .

What he said in detail:

“This week the legislative intervention will be voted on in the Parliament. Details of the schedule will be announced by the Competent Deputy Minister, Yannis Vroutsis.

It is important that these are passed and implemented and that we move into a new era. They are interventions that have to do with the operation of the stadiums and with the disciplinary penalties provided for, in order to protect the sports fan who wants to go see his favorite team.

A very important part of combating fan violence, as we have said, is also what has to do with justice and the authorities.

Those who are involved in football and any other sport say that it may start mainly from the football fields, but it ends up in many possible and improbable parts of the Greek territory.

There, this role is played by the competent authorities and the judiciary. Some evidence was given, some cases were asked to be correlated.

It goes without saying that we await the progress of the investigation into all these cases. It is very important that there are physical and moral perpetrators of heinous acts, such as what happened to Rentis, which cost the life of a young man, who went there to do his job and protect the rest of the citizens.

What we want is for all these investigations to proceed immediately. However, we cannot say or prejudge when the first or second phase of investigations will be completed, how many and who will be the moral perpetrators”.
