A little less than 13 years after leaving for the NBA, o Ricky Rubio returned to Barcelona. The 33-year-old playmaker made his first Palau Blaugrana training session with a big smile on his face, but it remains to be seen if and when he will play.
He himself, having left in the summer from NBA for reasons of mental health, he stated on his return that there is no commitment that he will compete, but if he himself feels good competitively and especially psychologically, he will strengthen his team Roger Grimmow until the end of the season.
For his part, the Spanish coach said he was happy about the fact that Rubio is training with the team, however he emphasized that for the time being there is nothing more to their collaboration.
In detail what he said:
On his first impressions of Rubio’s return: “I’m glad to see Ricky on the floor. It is a special news for both him and his recovery process. Perhaps more important to his recovery. I am happy for Ricky, for the group and for the club in general. We are glad you chose us. We will all help each other. We him and he us.”
On what he is expected to offer to the team beyond the competitive part: “Good players always give more. In any conditions. In addition, he is an excellent person. We are already in a normality. Today was our first day together and it felt like we had been together for a long time. Ricky is just training, nothing more. We have not spoken about the possibility of a transfer to the team. Physically, he is good and fit.”
