The Panathinaikos Athletic Club is celebrating the 3rd of February again this year in its own special way with a unique video and an unforgettable speech by the great Apostolos Nikolaidis.
We read the following excerpts from the speech of the “Patriarch” Apostolos Nikolaidis for the 70 years:
“Holding back the great emotion that possesses me at this historic moment, I pay tribute to the founders of our Panathinaikos, the first visionary of the Panathenaic idea and the main founder of our Club, Georgios Kalafatis…
Certainly neither Kalafatis nor his colleagues, whatever imagination they possessed and whatever visions their souls had, would have been impossible to believe that their creation would receive the extent that Panathinaikos received a few years after its foundation.
It took great efforts, unrelenting struggles, great and continuous enthusiasm, tireless toils, unquenchable passion and many sacrifices for our PANATHINAIKOS to survive, grow strong and prevail…
Indeed, dear friends, our Panathinaikos has grown so much that we now believe with conviction that one day its centenary will be celebrated. Because Panathinaikos, which is an idea, is immortal”
