With 3-0 wins against Romania Greece returned to World Group I of the Davis Cupa success that was celebrated by the 3,000 fans who were in the Ano Liosia stadium and created a beautiful atmosphere.

In his statements to the Cosmote TV camera, Mr Stefanos Tsitsipas he said he was proud of his team’s effort while expressing his belief to win the Davis Cup one day:

We had an amazing time, I am very moved that I can and do it with Petros. It was a difficult day, we had very good opponents on the other side of the net, we were presented with a big task and we found ourselves very strong in places where we had to show strength and composure.

We were really incredible, we did our job really well after the first set, I think our chemistry improved a lot with what we lost and learned from the first set. I want to thank all the fans and supporters, you cheer us on and give us a lot of energy when we’re out there so thank you very much“, he initially said and continued:

We have such a good team that we can surprise anyone. I didn’t think about 3-0 in wins when I came here but with the right structure in both singles and doubles, it worked out really well for us.

Aristotle (Thanos) had difficulties yesterday, he played three sets, we were there for him. I personally felt great joy and pride for Aristotle because he gave me great motivation and pushed me to play better today. I am ready to play even now, if I needed to play another match.

I don’t put limits on the team, I believe that the team is capable of making anything happen. I am here to support them in my own way, I have now gathered a lot of experience from the ATP Tour and I think this helps me pass it on to the whole team. I think this is also the advantage we have.

I am proud of all our efforts over the last few years to get promoted. I believe that with the work of the children, the way they have dedicated themselves these last years to this amazing team that we have built, I would put no limit and I even believe in winning the Davis Cup one day».

Statements were also made by Petros Tsitsipaswhich stated: “It was a very good game from start to finish, maybe a little bit at the beginning we were all trying to find the rhythm on the court and in the tie break stress came in and I got stressed for no reason. However, this happens in doubles.

What makes me happy is that we came out better in the second set, I also thank the people who supported us and supported us in the difficult times. That’s the biggest difference in Davis Cup, having the world on your side and going all the way to being able to win the match like that».
