Announcement of the Board of Directors of E.F.O.E.P.A. for the complaints of Xenia Stathis

The Board of Directors of EFOEPA initially emphasizes that very serious complaints will be investigated in detail, so that “in the event that disciplinary violations are found, the sanctions prescribed by the regulations of EFOEPA will be imposed”.

Subsequently, the Board of Directors clarifies that it first became aware of these complaints after publication in the press and disapproves of this choice of the General Secretary” and finally underlines that “it will take whatever action is necessary to eliminate any such behavior”.

In detail, the announcement:

“The Board of Directors of EFOEPA, during the meeting of 7/2/2024, discussed the issue of the statements of the General Secretary, X. Stathis, published on a sports website. The Board of Directors considers that the publication includes very serious complaints, which must be investigated in detail and, in the event that disciplinary violations are found, the sanctions prescribed by the regulations of the EFOEPA must be imposed.

For this purpose, he appointed a three-member committee, which will gather all the information it deems necessary and then submit it to the Board of Directors to make the final decisions.

The Board first became aware of these complaints after publication in the press and disapproves of this choice of the General Secretary, which is substitute and does not serve the interests of the sport.

EFOEPA believes that in the noble sport of table tennis there is no place for insults, threats, sexist behavior or personal attacks, which, after all, are contrary to the spirit of sportsmanship and are also prohibited by the regulations of the International Olympic Committee, which concern all the faces of sport. Therefore, it will take whatever action is necessary to eliminate any such behaviors.”
