Meite: “I like the team and Thessaloniki – Let’s adapt to the game of AEK”

“We treat all games in the same way, but we know that AEK is a difficult opponent. We played the first game and lost, so I think the game coming up on Sunday is an opportunity to show that we deserve to be in first place.”

On whether he considers that he is at 100% adapting to PAOK:

“It’s about how good the team is, and how much I’m a part of it. I feel that I am very good with my teammates, we laugh a lot, which is something very important for a team. I can say that now I know my teammates better on the pitch and the quality we have, so right now it’s a bit easier for me to perform even better on the pitch.”

On the clear mind the team shows, regardless of the conditions in a match, and if it feels like the team is maturing even more, game by game:

“Yes. We are always a team. We learn from our mistakes, like the games with OFI and Aris. We don’t panic, we have confidence in the work we do. The game against Atromitos was not easy at all, but we had faith in what we were doing and fought until the end to get the three points. We know that against AEK we will not always have the ball in our possession, that we may not have complete control of the game at some points, but we must remain calm, as we did in the previous matches, and based on this, on the field the right mentality, and to get the victory”.

On whether AEK’s style of play makes it difficult for PAOK:

“We work all week on AEK’s way of playing. We know he has a different style of play but we know what we’re up against and I don’t want to say exactly what we’re going to do, so that’s what we’ll try to aim for on Sunday. Let’s play our game, adapt to the opponent and get the victory. I believe we will be fully prepared to do just that.”

On whether the derby is only three points, or can decide more in the season:

“I think it doesn’t matter who we’re up against, our approach to games is always the same. We see each one as the last. After all, it won’t make sense to beat AEK and lose to Olympiakos, or any subsequent game. It will be the same problem for us. So we’re not doing anything different, we’re preparing as normal, we’ll have to be prepared to win the game, and then look to the future and the matches it will bring.”

For him, even if he imagines himself and his time at PAOK:

“Yes, why not. I like the team and Thessaloniki. But now I prefer to stay focused because we have a difficult game, and we will see after what we will do with my stay in the team.”
