The Milan Public Ministry sent the extradition request and arrest warrant for Robinho, 38, to the Italian Ministry of Justice. He was ultimately sentenced to nine years in prison for gang sexual violence against a 23-year-old woman. The information is from the Italian newspaper La Reppublica.

The crime took place in a nightclub in the city on January 23, 2013, when he was playing for Milan.
Robinho and his friend Ricardo Falco, also convicted, are in Brazil. The request was signed by promoter Adriana Blasco.

The documents will now be sent to the Brazilian Justice. The Constitution of Brazil does not allow a citizen of the country to be extradited, but with the international arrest warrant, Robinho can be detained if he travels abroad.

The final sentence, handed down by the Italian Supreme Court, was given on January 19 this year. The other men who participated in the crime were never found. According to investigations, Robinho would have made the woman consume alcohol until she was unconscious, without him being able to contest the sexual act.

In the player’s defense, his lawyers presented photos from the victim’s social networks to prove that she was used to consuming alcoholic beverages. Robinho claims innocence and says the relationship was consensual.,

For the Ansa agency, Franco Moretti, one of those responsible for the defense, said that Robinho always claimed his innocence and that he could not comment on the extradition request because he had no official knowledge of the matter.

THE leaf tried to contact the lawyer, but he did not answer the calls.

Robinho has been living in his home in Guarujá, although he could be found, especially before the final sentence, in footvolley matches on Boqueirão beach, in Santos. In 2020, Santos even announced his signing, but, because of protests on social media and threats from sponsors, he decided to go back.

He hasn’t announced whether he intends to play again, but at 38, he has told friends he’ll only think about it if he gets an interesting offer. His dream was to return to Santos, but that became unfeasible. He received inquiries from small teams outside São Paulo, but was not interested. His last club was İstanbul Başakşehir from Turkey.
