The Warriors tried to have a… crazy duo on their roster. One of the top NBA reporters, Adrian Wojniarowski proceeded to reveal that the Golden State team made their move to acquire LeBron James so that they could form an unbeaten duo, the “king” with Steph Curry.
As the well-known journalist reports, the Warriors made an effort to convince both the Lakers and James himself to make this deal, but the discussions did not work. And that’s because both from the LA team’s side and from the player’s side, they got two no’s.
At the urging of Draymond Green, Warriors owner Joe Lacombe reached out to Lakers owner Jeanie Buss to see if there was a fertile ground to make this huge move. However, Bass explained to him that she has no intention of allowing such a thing to happen pointing out that she is not going to allow such a move. Corresponding was the response of James, who explained that he has no intention of leaving his team, stressing that he is completely focused on his obligations and on the contract he has with the Los Angeles team.
A proposal was not officially made for the exchange, but these contacts were in the context of the exploratory contacts initiated by the Warriors and if they found that there is a possibility to make this huge deal then they would proceed with a proposal.
ESPN Story with @RamonaShelburne: Over a 24-hour window prior to the trade deadline that included owner to owner conversations, the Warriors made an unsuccessful bid to convince the Lakers and LeBron James to consider a trade to pair him with Stephen Curry. https://t.co/L14os5gTGp
