Stoiximan Super League: Toumba decides the top, AEK welcomes Kifissia

by

Volos-PAS Ioannina

Volos and PAS Ioannina have met eight times in the Super League and the team from Magnesia is in first place, having 4 wins and three draws, while the team from Epirus has won just one at home.

Four matches have been played with Volos as home team, in which the home team have won twice – both 2-1 – while there have been two draws with 1-1 and 0-0.

The two teams drew 1-1 in Ioannina for the 1st Round of the championship and thus broke the streak of Volos, who had three consecutive victories against PAS in the league and the Greek Cup, while now maintaining an unbeaten run for five consecutive matches.

The only victory of PAS Ioannina has been recorded on December 11, 2021 with 3-2 at home and since then these five matches have followed, with three of them being at home.

Only one of the nine meetings between the two teams in the league and Greek Cup has not seen a goal and it was a goalless draw on 6 March 2022 in Magnesia for the final matchday of the 2021-22 season.

PAS Ioannina are winless in their eleven away games this season (4 draws – 7 losses) and Volos have won just two of their eleven home games this season.

AEK-Kifisia

The game between the two teams in Round 1 for the 10th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League ended in a 1-1 draw. That was the first meeting between the two teams in the big division.

The two teams, however, had a past both in the Greek Cup and in AEK’s unique appearance in the 3rd National League in 2013-14.

They have met six times in total, with AEK having won two of their league matches and three of their Greek Cup meetings, while Kifisia have been held to a 1-1 draw on 23 December 2021 in the second leg of the Cup after losing to 4-0 in the first match.

Kifisia scored their first ever Super League win in their previous away game against OFI, and then drew 0-0 at home to Volos. This was just her second clean sheet in the league and her second clean sheet this season. It was also 0-0 in the home match against OFI on October 22, 2023.

The last time AEK had faced a newly-enlightened team in the Super League was in 2019-20, when they scored two victories over Volos – 3-2 at home and 3-1 in Magnesia.

The previous one was Lamia, which they won first in Fthiotida with 1-0 and then at home with 2-0.

PAOK-Olympiakos

There is a home win in the last eight meetings between the two teams for the championship, while if the two matches between them for the Greek Cup of 2021-22 are added, then there is only one in the last ten.

PAOK’s last home win over Olympiakos was on April 18, 2021, 2-0 for the league Playoffs. Since then, four matches have been played in Toumba, with Olympiacos winning two, while the other two ended in a draw.

In regular season, PAOK’s last win was on February 10, 2019 with 3-1 (3′ Vieirinia, 19′ Bisesvar, 82′ Akpom – 87′ Podense), while Olympiacos prevailed in the last visit, in their last year’s match for the league Playoffs 1-0 thanks to Samaseko’s goal.

A total of 69 meetings have been held between the two teams, with PAOK winning 32, Olympiakos 19 and 18 matches ending in draws.

PAOK had maintained an unbeaten streak at home against Olympiacos for 21 consecutive matches, since September 21, 1969, when Olympiacos won 2-1, and managed to leave with victory again on May 24, 1992, 2-1. In total in these 21 games, PAOK had 19 wins and two draws, while also scoring their biggest win against Olympiakos with 6-1 at the stadium of Serres on December 6, 1987.

Giorgos Skartados has scored the most goals in matches with PAOK at home and with six goals he is in first place, while six footballers follow with four, Afentoulidis, Koudas, Sarafis, Kermanidis, Guerino, Djordjevic.
