First step for Inter with… atonement Arnautovic!

Qualifying lead for the quarter-finals of the Champions League was taken by Interwhich prevailed 1-0 her Atletico MADRID in “Giuseppe Meazza”.

The Nerazzurri were superior for most of the match, with Arnautovic replacing Turam (due to adductor problems) at the start of the second half and missing important chances. In the end, however, instead of being fatal, he was the one who… redeemed his team in 79′.

On Wednesday, March 13, the rematch in Madrid.

The match:

The Nerazzurri entered the match with an aggressive attitude, with the guests mainly having defensive orientations.

Of course, the first moment belonged to Atlético, in the 11th minute, with the effort in two periods by Linos. In the 14th minute, the hosts protested for a penalty, but, as it was seen in the replay, Molina’s hand was, even marginally, in a natural position.

In any case, the game was on without particular tempo. Something that started to change in the last quarter of the first part. And that’s because Inter increased their pressure, taking advantage of the mistakes of her opponents. Simone Inzaghi’s team struck mainly through counter-attacks, as in the 38′ with Lautaro and in the 43′ with Turam, while earlier (37′) Oblak blocked Lautaro’s header.

The second half started with one forced change for each teamby Arnautovic to go instead of Turam for Inter and Savic instead of Jimenez for Atlético.

The Italian team started the second half as they finished the first (in terms of chances). In fact, the phases he created were even more important, with the first ones having as a… negative protagonist the newcomer Arnautovic. The Austrian ace missed both at 49′ with projection, as well as at 63′ coming out all alone in an advantageous position after a nice “1-2” with Lautaro. In between, at 55′Atletico threatened again with Linen.

After all, Arnautovic… atoned at 79′: Another mistake from Atlético’s defence, Lautaro counter-attacked, shot, with Oblak making the save. The 34-year-old forward took the “rebound” and scored with a diagonal shot, after Lino also failed to chase over the line, getting his blood back for the previous missed opportunities.

In the remaining minutes, Atlético tried to react, even having good moments, such as Morata’s header in the 88th minute. And since Inter didn’t find the second goal either, the 1-0 remains until the final.
