Spanoulis: “When Greece is united, it can do many things”

Absolutely delighted with the win (72-64) of National team opposite to Czech republicat the premiere of the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers, was Vasilis Spanoulis.

The coach of the “official favorite” referred to the nervousness of the internationals in the first half, but kept the very good defense and enough points in the open field.

“Congratulations to our National team on this new beginning we are making for this two-year period. Well done to the Czech Republic as well, which is a good team, they have been playing together for many years and are a difficult opponent. I’m proud of the players, we played great defense, we scored 21 points in the blowout and that’s the style we like to play. In the first half we were nervous, we didn’t move the ball well and we didn’t punish the Czech defense. It made sense because all the kids were in a great mood to play well, but that sometimes leads to wrong decisions. In the second half we made better decisions, played the same or even better defense and got the win. A big thank you to the world. Greece when united can do many things. “I represented the country for many years, from a young age, even when I was injured or tired. When the National Team calls you, you can’t say no. We are proud to be Greeks and with our soul we can face any opponent. All these months I have been trying to plan in my head how we will play and which players I will call. As long as I am a coach, the door will be open to everyone. We have to follow a certain philosophy and I am happy that we are playing with the characteristics that suit them.
