With Stephen Brown’s basket in “killing” time, PAOK defeated Anvil 94-93 in overtime (also 86-86) in Poland for the second game of the sixth group of the FIBA Europe Cup and made it “2 for 2” in the group, keeping the top of the standings and leaving the Poles without a win.
The match was a regular derby in the first half, in the third period the “two-headed” was ahead by +9, but immediately lost the lead, the Poles maintained it steadily throughout the fourth period, the match finally went to extra time and there Anville lost three shots in the last minute with Pearson and Slaughter and, thus, in the last attack, the American forward of PAOK gave the victory to group of.
The leaders of the “black and white” were Dimsa with 22, Jackson with 21, Jones with 17 and Moore with 12 points.
For Anville, Moutcius stood out with 17, Michalak with 16, Vucic with 14 and Fridrickson with 11 points.

The match
PAOK maintained a +1 to +2 at the start of the match against “hot” Dimsa, but Michalak’s peripheral shots created problems for the defense of Yuri Zdovcs and brought +2 to the Poles. The Lithuanian international forward’s back-to-back 3-pointers made it +4 for the doubleheader, but Anville went on a 4-0 run to tie it at 16-16 and, with the lead then swinging, Jones made it 19-20 at the end of the first quarter.
Jones’ three-pointer brought +4 to start the second quarter, Jones’ personal streak from the racket and the perimeter brought +6 for the “doubleheader” and Dimsa’s three-pointers +5 in reducing the score from the Poles to the poor defense of Yuri Zdovc’s players inside the racket. Annville went on a 5-0 run to tie the score at 34-34 and another 4-0 run by the home team made it +4 to the Poles’ total of 9-0. PAOK with a 4-0 run equalized 38-38 and with a new run they were +2 for 43-45 at the end of the half.
Annville had 12/21 2-pointers, 3/9 3-pointers, 10/13 shots, 19 rebounds and 12 assists. PAOK had respectively 6/13 two-pointers, 10/20 three-pointers, 3/6 shots, 12 rebounds and 11 assists.
A 5-0 run by PAOK at the start of the third period brought +7 for the “doubleheader”, but Anvil with a 6-0 run reduced it to -1 in the opponent’s racket. The peripheral shots of the “black and white” brought the 8-0 series and +9 for the Thessalonikians, who kept +5 to +7 afterwards, despite the balance in rebounds. Anvil with a 7-0 run reduced to -2 and, despite PAOK’s +5, found a 5-0 run for 69-69 at the end of the quarter.
The Americans of Anville brought another 5-0 run at the start of the fourth period for the Poles 74-69, but there Moore found the solutions for the Thessalonians, equalizing with a personal 4-0 run 75-75. Jackson’s three-pointer tied the game at 80-80, but Annville responded with a 4-0 run to make it 84-80 and Vucic made it 86-81 at 1:42. Moore cut it 86-83 at 1’13” and Jackson tied it 86-86 at 31”. In the last seconds, Pearson and Brown missed and the match went to a five-minute overtime.
Vucic’s two-pointer made it 88-86 at the start of the extra five minutes, but Jones tied the game the same way. Vucic missed two free throws after Brown was fouled and the teams were tied at 90-90. Moutcius made it 91-90 with a shot, the PAOK players missed two attacks they renewed and Slaughter’s shots made it 93-90 at 37”, but Brown reduced the score to 93-92 at 21”. Koniaris fouled Pearson, he was charged with a technical penalty, the American missed, as did Slaughter in two of his own shots, and Brown in stoppage time gave PAOK the victory 94-93.
