Two boats represent Greek sailing in the world championship of the 470 mixed category that started in Majorca.
This major international competition will see one more European country qualify for the French Olympics, so our sailors have a huge incentive to do their best.
The messages are positive. After the first three races Ariadni Paraskevi Spanakis-Odysseas Emmanouil Spanakis are in 18th place in the general classification of 61 boats from 25 countries. They started 5th, continued with 22nd place which they removed as their worst and in the third race they finished 9th. They seem to be in good shape and there is optimism.
The Greek boat is chasing the British which is 10th and the Italian which is in 16th place. According to the first results, one of these three countries will qualify for the top sporting event on the planet, and of course everything is open.
Our second boat, consisting of Melina Pappa- Nikos Yiotopoulos, is 34th with 27 points. In the first races he finished 11th, 18th (he removed her) and 16th respectively.
The race will end on Sunday, March 3.
