Clattenburg on Marinakis: ‘He’s upset because Nottingham have struggled – He’s invested a lot of money’

by

THE Liverpool passed the “City Ground” with a score of 1-0 thanks to his goal Bath tubs at 90’+9′, with Nottingham to have complaints from arbitration.

In fact, the match also had a “third half”, as according to a BBC report, Vangelis Marinakis was furious with the referee Tierney and chased him into the locker room, causing him to be removed by security.

A few hours after the match, former head referee of KED and current referee analyst in Nottingham, Mark Clattenberg, took a stand on what happened. The Briton upheld the home team’s complaints, stressing that they should have legally taken possession in the final after a player was injured, but was wrongly awarded Liverpool and in this phase came the “golden” goal.

At the same time, he defended him Marinakimentioning about him how “He is quite upset because his team has struggled, he has invested a lot of money in the team and he wants to see results.”

In detail what he said:

“As a club, Nottingham Forest feel there have been one or two decisions that have gone against them – Newcastle United, West Ham – decisions that PGMOL have accepted were wrong and today was another example where the law is quite clear. If the referee is going to stop the match for a head injury, if he feels there is one. He is rightly allowed to stop it. However, the ball must return to the team in possession. And Nottingham Forest clearly had that possession.

He did exactly the same in the first half, however it was a different situation. The ball was closer to the penalty area and Nottingham Forest were heading for the corner flag. Nottingham Forest should have had the ball back. Instead, Liverpool went up the pitch and scored in this phase. As you can see there is disappointment tonight. Things seem to be going against Nottingham Forest at this stage and hopefully our fortunes will change in the future.

The owner of the club is quite upset because his team struggled. He has invested a lot of money in the team and wants to see results. I’m going to sit down with the board and the owner to try to explain what happened and it’s hard to do that right now. We will speak to PGMOL and the Premier League and discuss shortly.”
