LeBron James: “As long as I play, the record will grow”

by

THE Lebron James he reached yet another milestone in his career, as he did the first player to break the 40,000 career point barrier. The “king” needed just 9 points to make it and scored 26 reaching 40,017 in the Lakers’ matchup with the Nuggets that did not end well for his team (114-124).

All milestones mean something to me. Obviously some are more important than others, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t mean something to me. However, the main thing for me, what always comes first, is to win and I hate that this record turned into a loss, especially against a team that is playing very well. We also played good basketball, but we couldn’t finish the game the way we wanted“, said the 39-year-old superstar, who since last year is the leading scorer in NBA history, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

I feel like I’m still a threat when I’m on the court and I can do the things I did 10 years ago. And some of what I did 20 years ago, which is weird to say. This record will continue to grow until I stop playing“, added LeBron James, who hasn’t put an end date on his career, but it looks like he’ll continue to play for at least one more year.

It is noted that no other active player has broken the 30,000 point barrier. The closest is Kevin Durant who has 28,342 and is ninth in history. Giannis Antetokounmpo is 78th with 18,099 points.
