Paris Saint-Germain is universally superior, overcoming the obstacle of Sociedad with a second victory

by

Qualified to the quarter-finals of this year’s Champions League with a show of superiority Paris Saint Germain!

Luis Enrique’s team also won in Spain (2-1) the Societyuniversally superior to her opponent and again having as her main protagonist Kylian Mbappe, who “locked up” qualification from… 15′ with a beautiful goal, and added the second in 56′, reaching 35 in total this season. It simply reduced for the hosts o Merino in 89′.

The Basques had the will but the difference in the quality of the rosters showed, with the overall 4-1 of the pair to leave absolutely no doubt as to which team deserved to qualify.

Thus, Paris qualified for the “8” of the top club competition for the first time after two consecutive painful eliminations from the “16”, last year by Bayern Munich and the year before by Real Madrid.

The match

The match started with Sociedad coming in…furiously with the help of the hot and stocky ‘Anoeta’, holding the ball and trying to set the pace. However, Paris did not take long to take the reins, even creating the first chance for a goal in the 5th minute, with Mbappe placing a high shot under the suffocating pressure of the defense.

In the 7th minute, Nuno Mendes almost sent the ball into his team’s net, with his header after Becker’s cross going just past the right upright, while in the 10th minute the visitors “touched” the goal, when Mbappe comfortably eluded Traore and turned for Barcola, who failed to beat Remiro from close range.

Finally, the Paris translated its supremacy into a lead in the 15th minute, with Mbappe to trouble the Sociedad defense again with his speed, charging in from the left, outrunning anyone in front of him with constant feints and opening the scoring with a beautiful finish into the side netting from a wide angle!

Clearly superior, Luis Enrique’s team was in total control and did not in any way let their opponent threaten Donnarumma, even missing a great opportunity to make it 2-0 in the 29th minute, with Barcola making an individual effort and turning from the on the right and with Remiro denying Mbappe a goal, saving with his foot in his own corner. At 45’+1′ Kumbo tried to score with a long shot, but the ball went well past Donnarumma’s goal.

Having comfortably managed their lead in the first half, Paris continued to play with confidence, virtually sealing qualification in the 56th minute when Mbappe he went to the back of the defense after his balls Lee Kang-inwinning the tete-a-tete with Remiro and scoring his 35th goal this season!

With everything decided, Paris handed over the reins of the game and the hosts stepped up, creating chances. In the 63rd Turients he scored with a header but his goal was disallowed for offside, while in the 67th minute Merino was unable to score with a conversion from the penalty spot.

In the 68th minute, Remiro saved a powerful Hakimi shot with difficulty in his closed corner, while Sociedad, after missing two more chances with Thubimendi and Beniat, finally scored the goal of honor in the 89th minute, with Merino to take… the rebound and steal the ball into the net, after Donnarumma’s unstable intervention in Turrientes’ diagonal shot.
