THE Nantes on the way to Olympiakos in the final-4 of the Youth League!
The “canaries” saw everything against the Copenhagenbut they took advantage of the fact that they were playing with one player for more than one half, they made a great comeback and the final 3-3 sent the match to penalties. Where the French were calmer and with the guardian-angel of their goalkeeper, Mambon, prevailed 5-4 and advanced to the semi-finals of the competition.
The game was enjoyable throughout its duration. THE Nantes took the lead in just the 12th minute through Assoumani, but the Danes’ response was immediate as Hoylund leveled with a penalty six minutes later. And the visitors completely surprised the home team within two minutes, after o Hoywood from a scorer he became a creator and created the goals of Nemeth (31′) and Tsiaka (33′) for 3-1!
In the… caps, however, Olsson was sent off and left the Danes with one player less, with the Nantes to have the opportunity to reduce at the end of the half, but o Assumani missed a penalty in 45’+4′.
This did little to deter the French who went into the second half furiously, with Maphubi Embandiga making it 3-2 in the 54th minute and ten minutes later the counter-attack was completed by Leroux’s goal, which brought the score back into balance. Despite the pressure from the home team, however, the fourth goal for the ultimate upset did not come and both teams were sent to penalties.
There, Mongo missed the 3rd run and gave the opportunity to Copenhagen to get the upper hand, but Andrew was beaten by the opposing keeper in the penalty shootout that would have given the Danes qualification. It was followed by a missed penalty for both, Gomes’s well-timed goal for 5-4 and Mambon’s great intervention in Halsgaard’s execution, giving Nantes a great qualification!
