A new record for three-pointers made was set in the Stoiximan Basket League. THE Prometheus in yesterday’s victory over Colossus of Rhodes (84-79) in overtime he had 47 attempts behind 6.75m. (12/47) and this is the most in the history of the professional league (since 1992/93).
This record lasted 23 whole years, from May 29, 2001 when Dafni defeated Aris in Thessaloniki in a playoff ranking match for positions 9-12, with 87-77, counting 44 three-point attempts (14/44).
The trio of Reynolds, Hunter and Cowan attempted 32 of those 47 Prometheus 3-pointers, with the former making 13 of them. This is the second highest performance this year after Amarousi’s Ahmed Hill attempted 15 three-pointers (7/15) in the 10th game against AEK Betsson.
The 13 three-pointers attempted by Reynolds, however, are not the greatest performance in Prometheus history. This is because Nikos Gikas shot 14 times (5/14) from behind the line in the 1st minor final of the 2018 playoffs against PAOK (79-81).
With yesterday’s result, Prometheus secured their presence in the top four of the regular season for the first time in three years after finishing 5th in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. This was the 5th time in his eight seasons in the Stoiximan Basket League.
