In the tenth final of her career, Maria Sakkari could not “brake” the extraordinary, Iga Sviontekknowing the defeat in the Indian Wells final with score 2-0 set (6-4, 6-0).
After the end of the match, the Greek champion appeared disappointed with the result, however, she expressed her belief that in the future she will reach a similar level and celebrate the title!

“Thank you very much for coming here today, I’m sorry I couldn’t fight a little more. You are a fantastic player (Ms Sviontek), a great person, you deserve the best. You have managed to create something unique, I believe we will be able to play a number of finals in the future and if we manage to do that, it means we will both be very good. You are fantastic, I wish you all the best, thanks to my team, we almost got to the source, we didn’t make it but I’m sure we will in the future.
Thank you for being by my side and of course I thank my sister for being here today. My family is always by my side, I feel proud to be Greek, I come from a wonderful country. California is a fantastic place, I wish I could stay here longer but I have to move on. I hope to come back even stronger next time.”
