Red Star almost knocked Virtus out of the top six with a terrific Nedovic!

The “red and white” of Belgrade prevailed with a wide 94-79 Virtus Bolognain a game that was balanced until the first half, but then the hosts, led by the Serbian guard, stepped on the gas and cruised to victory.

Specifically, the former Panathinaikos player scored 25 points, 7 rebounds, while his worthy supporter was Joel Boloboi with 15 points and 5 rebounds. On the other side, the moving one stood out Tornik Sengelia with 25 points, but also Lundberg with 15 points.

Thus, Erythros rose to 11-20, without, however, having motivation in view of the continuation and the last matches, while Virtus (counts four consecutive defeats) fell to 17-14 and lost, as everything shows, the train to the six which secures a place in the Euroleague playoffs.

The match:

Virtus scored the first points of the game with his 3-pointer Belinelli and Dunston’s two-pointer (0-5), with Red Star “responding” with a 9-2 (9-7) that put them in front of the score. The Sengelia and Miki took action (15-17, 7′), while the Serbs may have regained the lead (19-17, 9′), but the two three-pointers of Paiola and Abbas sent Virtus to +2 (21-23 ) at the end of the first period.

The guests were very accurate in the attack (27-32, 14′), with the “red and whites” running an 8-2 that put them in the role of leader (35-34), while Sengelia was hot (13 points in the half) and kept Virtus in front (38-40, 18′). Nevertheless, the Red team, with Tobi and Teodosic’s three-pointers at the end, went to the locker room with a six-point lead (48-42) at the end of the first half.

With the beginning of the second part, o Nedovic sent the difference to double digits for the first time (54-44), with Lundberg reducing it to -4 with two accurate three-pointers in the 24th minute (59-55). In fact, the Italians brought the match into balance (61-61), but the Red team with an impressive 11-0 escaped the score (72-61) and finally closed the third period at +9 (74-65).

At the beginning of the last quarter, Belinelli and Lundberg they tried to close the gap (74-69, 32′), but the Reds were serious on defense and offense and held their lead, eventually going on a 10-0 run to take the victory over Virtus by a score of 94-79.
