“My move to Porto was very important, I was very happy. I didn’t play as much as I wanted because we were five strikers and I chose to go to Greece because I got a call from Carlos Carvalhal, who had also invited me to Telta. At the time, I had agreed, but the two clubs hadn’t come to terms with each other, so I didn’t go to Vigo. I played with him while he was at Olympiakos, as well as with my compatriot Mr. Medilibar.
When I went to Olympiakos I thought that coaches are never stable in one team. I thought with Carvalhal “imagine I go and he leaves”. And that happened. If a Greek coach took over it might have been more difficult for me because he wouldn’t know me, but Medilibar was hired who knew me.
The team is doing really well, we are in the league and in the quarter-finals of the Conference League and it’s a shame that I don’t have the right to play in those games. Only three changes could be made to the list and there were already many candidates for those positions. But I am very happy at Olympiakos, it gives me everything I need and has great facilities.
Medilibar is very demanding but he is very cool. When you train with him he is very pleasant, he is very close to the players but in training you end up exhausted. He likes everyone to push and everyone to be in front. In addition, we are quite a few Spaniards, Argentines and Portuguese, nine in particular, and they all know how to speak Spanish, so the language of the locker room is more Spanish than Greek. I speak more Spanish here than in Portugal.
There are 8-9 games left, we want to finish in the best possible way, we are five points behind the first and it is not impossible, we play this week against them. In the summer we will see what comes.
I have a contract with Porto and who doesn’t want to be the team’s nine, if I had the opportunity and could, it would be ideal.”
