THE Wales wants to be present for a third consecutive Euro tournament having defeated Finland 4-1 in the “semi-final”. Opposite to Poland, however, have just one win in ten games (two draws and seven defeats) and that came in their first meeting, in 1973 in Cardiff. The Poles, who thrashed Estonia 5-1 on Thursday, have been at the Euros since 2008 and are looking to extend their streak.
THE Ukraine takes on Iceland on neutral ground in Wroclaw, Poland. Both of Ukraine’s previous home games against Iceland ended 1-1. The typical home team, who are claiming a place in the fourth consecutive Euro, got a great victory at the home of Bosnia/Herzegovina with 2-1 in the “semi-final”. On the contrary, the Iceland upset Israel 4-1 and is one step away from the second appearance in its Euro history, first since 2016 when it reached the quarter-finals.
The team that will emerge from the Georgia-Greece will take part in the sixth group of Euro 2024 facing in turn Turkey on June 18 in Dortmund, Czech republic on June 22 in Hamburg and Portugal on June 26 in Gelsenkirchen.
The winner of Wales-Poland will be in group four with the Netherlands, Austria and France, while the winner of Ukraine-Iceland will be in group five with Belgium, Slovakia and Romania.
