PAOK: Historic low in errors

by

THE PAOK combined the victory over Apollon Patras (87-63) for… the third round of the Stoiximan Basket League with historic performances.

More important was that of mistakes of. The Two-Headed man, who started the first half without an error, ended the game with just four and this is his best performance in at least the last 13 seasons and his last 369 Championship games. Since the 2011-12 season, he has been limited to five errors three times, in the 2nd minor final of 2015 against Aris Midea, in the 2nd quarterfinal of the 2019 playoffs with Prometheus and in the home game against Olympiakos in the 2021-22 season.

The four mistakes of the team of Stathis Nerantzakis are at the same time the best performance of this year’s Stoiximan Basket League. Until yesterday, the lowest was that of five mistakes made twice by Prometheus (within Maroussi and away with AEK Betsson) and once by Aris (within Kolossos H Hotels Collection). At the same time, this is a two-year record, since in order to find a similar one, we have to go back to last year’s season, when Prometheus also made four mistakes in its home game against AEK Betsson. Dikefalos’ four mistakes in yesterday’s game are even equal to the lowest performance in six seasons in the Championship. To find a smaller one we have to go back to the 2017-18 season when Olympiacos scored three in their home game against Prometheus.

The four mistakes of PAOK mateco combined with the 24 of Apollon Carna created the biggest difference of this season and by… distance from the others. The previous one was that of the 12 mistakes made by Panathinaikos AKTOR from Karditsa Iaponiki in the match of the 20th game, in the city of Thessaly (20-8).

*Yesterday’s game was decided in the fourth period, the partial score of which was 30-7 for PAOK mateco. In fact, this +23 is the second, biggest difference of a quarter in this year’s Stoiximan Basket League. The record has been held by Prometheus since the 2nd matchday with +27 (37-10) in the 1st period of his match against Karditsa Japan.

*By outscoring 43-22 in the second half, Bighead tied its season-high. He scored +21 in the second half of his home game against Kolossos H Hotels Collection (55-34).

*Both the large individual score of the fourth period and the total difference of the second half were the result of the long run through which PAOK mateco “locked in” the victory. He went on a 22-0 run that turned a 52-56 lead at 28:49 into a 74-56 lead at 34:25, which is the second-longest scoring streak of this year’s Stoiximan Basket League. The record is held by Olympiacos since the 9th matchday when it scored 23-0 in its away game against Lavrio Megabolt. The previous longest point streak for PAOK mateco in the season was the 14-0 run in the first period of their home game against Karditsa Japan.

*PAOK mateco also made 14 steals, a performance that ranks in the top 10 of its history in the professional Championship. We don’t have to go far to find his previous best, however, as he had 16 steals again against Apollon Carna in last season’s road game. As for this year, his previous best performance was the 12 he had in the home game against Karditsa Japan.

His 14 steals combined with the three interceptions recorded in his stat gave the PAOK mateco the third highest steals/intercepts ratio after he had 17. The season record is shared by Panathinaikos AKTOR with 18 (from the away derby with Olympiakos) with Aris Midea (from the home derby with PAOK mateco).

*Dikephalos “hit” mainly from close and medium distance and his 27 accurate two-pointers (27/41) equal his best performance of the season, since he also had 27 (27/42) in the corresponding game of the regular season.

*Top performances of the season for the “black and white” also resulted from the… small details of the statistics. The season record is 52 points through the racket after they had 50 in the corresponding game of the regular season. With the 25 points they got from their opponent’s mistakes, they equaled their record after they had so many in the home game against Olympiacos, while they also equaled that of the most points from surprises, having 27 in the home match against AEK Betsson .

Dikephalos through the transition score even set a season record for this year’s Stoiximan Basket League since the +24 he had against Apollon Carna (27-3) is the biggest difference in the season. It is typical that the previous biggest was recorded in the corresponding game of the regular season (26-3).

*On the other hand, the Thessaloniki team recorded its lowest defensive performance (17) and overall rebounds (24) this year.
