DEAB closes Gate 13 for a match due to incidents with the police

by

The decision to close Gate 13 for one matchday at “Apostol Nikolaidis” due to incidents between fans and the police before Panathinaikos-AEK was taken by the Permanent Committee for Combating Violence (DEAB). Therefore, the horseshoe of the organized will be closed for Sunday’s match with Lamia.

This is yet another administrative penalty from the DEAB (after the new measures to curb violence), which -among other things- had also punished PAOK with a one-game match that saw them in the playoffs premiere against Aris.

The decision states:

He imposed at the expense of P.A.E. PANATHINAIKOS the administrative sanction of the temporary ban on the use by spectators of gate 13, of the “Apostolos Nikolaidis” stadium, for one (1) matchday in any National competition, because during the football match for the Play Offs of the Super League 2023-2024 championship, between the teams PANATHINAIKOS – A.E.K., at the “Apostolos Nikolaidis” stadium on 3-4-2024 at around 20:10, a group of approximately one hundred (100) P.A.E. fans. PANATHINAIKOS forcibly broke through the police barricade at the junction of Koniari – Armatoli and Klefto streets and attempted to enter the stadium, specifically at gate 13. In the end, approximately twenty (20) sports fans managed to enter it en masse with the use of force and without ticket control.

This fact emerges from the material of the electronic surveillance system (cameras) of the “Apostolos Nikolaidis” stadium, which were operating normally, as well as from the suggestive report of the competent Police Authority.
