The Panathinaikos-Olympiakos schedule in the Euroleague playoffs and the… confusion with the Super League

A first schedule, which is expected to be “locked” tonight, has been released for the Euroleague playoffs, where they will take part Panathinaikos and Olympic.

First, it should be noted that next Tuesday (16/4) the first two play-in matches will take place, one with Maccabi to welcome tonight’s winner Virtus Bologna-Basconia and the other with the loser being tested at the seat of Ephesus on the same day. Then, the winner of the first pair will be in the playoffs against Panathinaikos, while the loser will play as a home team against the winner of Efes-Bologna or Baskonia on Friday (19/4) for the eighth place that leads over Real.

The playoffs will begin next week. Based on the original schedule, Olympiacos will face Barcelona or Monaco away from home on Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th April. Panathinaikos will host its opponent at OAKA on Wednesday 24 and Friday 26 April. However, for the match on April 24 there is an issue, as on the same day at 20:30 the crucial football derby AEK-Panathinaikos at OPAP Arena. It is not improbable that the time of the basketball match will be changed both for safety reasons and to enable the fans of the “clover” to watch the match without any problems and without… a dilemma with the match of the Stoiximan Super League.

During Holy Week, the third and fourth (if needed) matches are scheduled of the playoff series. On Holy Tuesday (30/4) and Holy Thursday (2/5) Panathinaikos will be invited to play away from home, while respectively Olympiacos will host Monaco or Barcelona on Holy Wednesday (1/5) and Good Friday (3/ 5).

Since Game 5 is needed to clear the qualification to the Final 4, for Panathinaikos it will take place on Easter Tuesday (7/5) and for Olympiakos on Easter Wednesday (8/5).

The full schedule is expected to be announced later today, after the games are over, but teams have already been informed about the draft.
