Tsitsipas in the final of Monte Carlo after an epic battle!

He did not pay for his mistakes and qualified for the Monte Carlo final Stefanos Tsitsipas! The top Greek tennis player came out victorious in a great battle with Yannick Sinerlasting over 2.5 hours.

In fact, he had to achieve a major reversal, since Shiner had started the third set with a break, but after 4-2 he showed that he was facing injury problem and did not manage to reach the same pace to the end.

By qualifying for the final, Tsitsipas is seeking his third Monaco trophy in the last four years, having been crowned back-to-back champions in 2021 and 2022.

The match


In the first set, Stefanos Tsitsipas needed 44 minutes to take the lead. In the first game he threatened to break, but Shiner stopped him.

He didn’t have the same luck, however, after the Greek tennis player broke his opponent’s serve and took a 3-1 lead. Shiner didn’t find any answers, with Tsitsipas erasing the 1-0 set with 6-4.

After a very hard battle, Yannick Siner won the second set. The Italian started impressively, he crushed Tsitsipas and with a break in the second game, he led 3-0 and easily reached 4-1.

In fact, Tsitsipas found himself in an even more difficult position, when Shiner reached a new break point, but the Greek tennis player stopped him and made it 4-2. Tsitsipas stepped up and threatened, in turn, for a break, but the inflexible Italian held his serve and took the set to a thrilling finale.

The Greek tennis player proved too tough to surrender and reached five break points to stay alive in the game. However, Shiner (counting a lost set point) scored some terrific points and made it 1-1 (6-3), in a game that lasted over ten minutes.

Shiner came stronger in the third set as well and broke with good morning. The Italian led 3-1 and reached two break points afterwards, but Tsitsipas stayed up and reduced it to 3-2. After an unsuspected phase at 4-2, Shiner appeared to have knee discomfort and called a medical time-out, saying his knee hurt.

Tsitsipas took advantage of it and reached two break points that were stopped by the Italian, who also had an advantage to hold his serve. Tsitsipas stopped him and reached a new break point, which was erased after a mistake. The hard battle continued, the Greek tennis player reached a fifth break point, which he took advantage of and made it 4-4.

Tsitsipas easily made it 5-4, while Shiner showed that he was also suffering from discomfort in his left leg! The Italian again sought medical attention and continued to struggle, paving the way for the Greek champion’s 6-4 victory.
