He took a stand for his much talked about celebration in front of the Coventry players o Anthony.
Manchester United’s Brazilian midfielder has been heavily criticized for his move to defiantly celebrate by pointing his ears in front of his opponents after his side’s nerve-wracking penalty shoot-out victory and their place in the FA Cup final.
Through a post on social media, Anthony justified himself, stating that in the heat of the moment, he reacted to the challenges to defend his team.
“Coventry proved they deserved to reach the semi-finals. We wanted to qualify for the final for our fans and we succeeded. The way some Coventry players treated our fans was not nice and I reacted like that, in the heat of the moment, to defend my team.”the Brazilian said characteristically in his post.
Coventry proved why they reached the semi-final. We sought this spot in the final for our fans and we achieved it. The way our fans were treated by their player was not nice and I, in the heat of the moment, I’ve reacted to the provocations in a natural defense of my club! https://t.co/y3cz3UhzXf
