“Fire” is characterized by police circles the file that was formed for the criminal organization which was dismantled yesterday after the sweeping operation with the code name “Damokleios Spathes” of EL.AS and concerns the murderous attack against the 31-year-old MAT police chief Giorgos Lyggeridis in Rentis in December 2023, but also the fan violence in general.

The voluminous file of 3,000 pages which “left” this morning from GADA in plastic boxes is “tied” well and there can be no doubt about the role of those arrested, they say on Skai.gr police sources.

Explosions, offenses related to explosives, manslaughter, robbery, extortion, disturbing the peace, arson, dangerous bodily harm, theft, damage to foreign property are some of the charges attributed to the 67 arrested who passed the prosecutor’s door early in the morning.

The “Chiefs”, “deputy leaders” and “recruiters”, who are referred to by names or nicknames, as well as testimonies, videos, findings – evidence such as burnt clothes and dna identified on them, but mainly telephone communications that came into her hands EL.AS since the removal of telephone privacy they burn the arrested.

According to police sources, 87 searches were carried out in homes, vehicles and other places, as well as 10 physical searches with the assistance of representatives of the judicial authorities of Athens and Piraeus, in the residences of the arrested defendants as well as in the homes of defendants who escaped arrest, during which a number of T-shirts and other items belonging to a certain group and other groups were found and confiscated, which apparently constitute “loot”, full-face hoods, knives, bats, iron glocks, iron fists, flares, firecrackers, various digital persuasions, such as mobile phones, portable computers, storage media, quantities of narcotic substances as well as the total amount of 23,170 euros.

Yet found and confiscated air guns, stun guns and firearms as well as cartridges, in the homes of 9 accused. According to the same sources, the perpetrators they had formed an operationally structured organization with continuous criminal activity since at least 2019, with the purpose of committing felonies and misdemeanors against Police Forces and opposing fans. “Their action takes place mainly in Attica, but there are also cases where, on the occasion of matches outside Attica, they commit criminal acts in other cities of Greece, such as Volos and Ioannina.

The starting point of our Service’s investigations was the case of the attack by the members of the Criminal Organization of unknown perpetrators, with homicidal intent against a platoon of the Hellenic Police, resulting in the death of a Policeman,” states the ELAS communiqué.

Regarding the murderous attack against Lyggeridis in Rentis, police sources report that during the autopsy they also found a total of 28 persuasions were seized which were used as weapons in the attacks against the police forces, namely naval flares, hand flares, flare launchers, A.E.M. remnants. etc.

In addition, they were searched for, located and a total of 64 persuasions were seized, which concern clothing discarded by the perpetrators of the attacks, with the obvious purpose of making it difficult for the authorities to identify them. Finally, evidence that constitutes a violation of the Law on Addictive Substances was also found and confiscated. All confiscated convictions were sent to the relevant laboratories to be examined.

For the deconstruction of the criminal organization, an important role was played by the 3 “deep throats”, i.e. the statements of the three witnesses who, for understandable reasons, have been placed under protection status and according to police sources, provided crucial information for the development of the investigations which lasted 4 months.
