Stoiximan Super League: The most critical “turn” in the Playoffs

by

LAMIA – PAOK

This is the eighth meeting between the two teams for the Super League and Lamia have failed to score in the previous seven against PAOK, who have won seven in as many matches.

In total, 15 matches have been played in both venues and PAOK has the same number of victories against the Fthiotida team. On April 3, the two teams met for the first time for the Stoiximan Super League Playoffs and Dikefalos prevailed 3-1. In this match, the Lamia team scored a goal against PAOK, after losing 3-0 in the regular season matches in Toumba and 2-0 in the last matchday in Lamia.

Four of PAOK’s seven victories in Lamia have been 2-0 and there are still two 1-0 and one 3-0. This season broke a paradox that wanted Dikefalos to have a Greek and a foreign scorer in their 2-0 victories. On March 3, 2024, Tyson and Baba scored PAOK’s goals.

ARIS – OLYMPIAN

Olympiacos has scored three victories against Aris this season, after prevailing in their two meetings for the regular duration of the championship and at home for the Stoiximan Super League Playoffs process.

Last season, Aris drew 2-2 at Karaiskakis stadium for the Stoiximan Super League Playoffs and won at home 2-1.

The last time Olympiacos won all four of their games in a season was in the 2019-20 season and that four-game winning streak was part of the last big run against the Yellows, where they had won ten consecutive home and away wins.

In their last ten matches, there are only two away wins and Olympiacos has achieved these, in the match for the Super League Playoffs of 2021-22 with 1-0 and in the regular season of this year’s championship with 2-1.

In the four matches that exist between the two teams in this form of the Playoffs, Aris has won once, Olympiacos twice and there is also a 1-1 draw.

AEK – PANATHINAIKOS

Five of the last ten games between the two teams in both venues have ended in draws, with AEK the only one who has managed to win away from home in this series of games between them, while the other four include three at home victories of Panathinaikos and one of the Yellow and Black.

In the four matches they have played in recent years for the Super League Playouts with AEK as host, there are an equal number of draws, with two 0-0 and two 1-1.

AEK’s last home win was on January 8, 2023, in the first regular season match against Panathinaikos at its new stadium in New Philadelphia. They followed that season’s Playoffs matchup which ended in a tie (0-0), as did their regular season game this year (2-2).

The most frequent score in the 73 home matches with AEK is a 1-0 victory for the Yellow and Black (12 appearances), followed by a 2-0 victory for Panathinaikos with 10 appearances. In third place and the most frequent score of a tie between the two teams is 1-1 with 8 appearances, while right after are the 7 derbies in which no goals have been scored.
