Olympiakos prevailed again and Panathinaikos is going for the complete overthrow of Rentis!

She defeated Olympiakos again and sent her to the finals Women’s Volleyball League Panathinaikos in the fifth and decisive match!

The “greens” took advantage of the momentum given to them by their impressive victory four days ago at “Melina Merkouri”, celebrating the victory with 3-1 sets (25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23) in Metz’s closed game and now looking for a complete reversal (the “red and whites” had won in the first two finals) next Saturday (27/4, 18:00) in Rentis, so that they can be crowned champions!

The beginning of the fourth final was ambiguous until 4-4, when Panathinaikos found a rhythm, escaping for the first time with +3 (7-4). Atkinson got the shutout for 9-5, Olympiacos to 9-6 with Koumboura, but the home team made it 11-6 forcing Miceli to take a timeout. The “red and white” got closer to 11-8 with points from Nizetich and Mlejkova, but the “green” continued to find solutions offensively with Atkinson as the star and taking advantage of the many mistakes of their opponents they made an impressive 8-2 run after 14-10 , escaping with 22-12 and comfortably making it 1-0 in the sets (25-15).

After suffering that first set, Olympiacos showed clearly improved at the start of the second, taking the smallest lead at 3-2 and 4-3. The home team went ahead with 5-4, with Hatziefstratiadou getting a point in the first period, while Koumboura put the visitors ahead again, with 7-6. The two teams went hand in hand in the score, with Panathinaikos escaping with 13-11 and 15-13, but with Olympiacos reacting and equalizing again, at 17-17. Nesic’s side went ahead 21-19 and 22-20, Olympiacos went back to 23-22 with Nizetich, but the outstanding Atkinson made it 25-23, putting her team 2-0 up in the set.
