THE SEMI-FINALS IN SWEDEN

In the Swedish League, our three champions, having managed to help their teams achieve their goals in the regular season, now strengthen them in the playoffs for the best. As was known, the one semi-final of the process included a match between teams of Greek athletes.

Konstantinopoulos’ Record, which had finished third in the playoffs, welcomed Sgouropoulos’ Eslov, which had taken first place at the end of two rounds. After a strong match and without the teams setting up to produce a Greek “contra”, Eslov won 4-1.

Sgouropoulos first lost 3-2 sets to the Swedish Hambus Sonderlund and then defeated the also Swedish Max Hedbom 3-1. Constantinopoulos was beaten 3-2 sets by England’s Tom Jarvis and no match was recorded against the great Truls Meregaard as the team scores were settled.

Angelakis’ Sparwagen (fourth in the regular season) had a big derby with Soderham as a guest. The Greek defender scored two wins, but it wasn’t enough and his team lost 4-3. In his first match, he beat Sweden’s Anton Hort 3-2 in sets and then 3-1 against Sweden’s Viktor Brod, who with 22 wins and 4 losses was the most prolific player in the regular season of the championship.

Angelakis was also used in the doubles in the final. With teammate Harald Andersson, they lost 2-0 sets to Broad/Eriksson and, thus, the final score was formed.

The second matches will be held at the home of the guests on Thursday and, if the score is 1-1, decisive third matches are scheduled for 29/04 at the Eslov and Soderham venues respectively.
