The season of the Olympiakos men’s volleyball team ended in the most ideal way, as the “red and white” won the double with 32nd league and 26th Cup of their rich history!
The Piraeus team initially won the Cup in a sensational final in Larissa against Milos, while after a series of finals full of emotions against Panathinaikos, they celebrated the back to back and in the Volley League!
Like last season, this year too, it’s time for… changes in the “Melina Merkouri” indoor gym, in the number of trophies with “32” and “26” taking their places!
The changes were made by Salvador Hidalgo and Raphael Koumentakiswho spoke to the Amateur Olympiakos camera taking stock of this season!
The international winger of Greece’s doubles, said: “Big joy. We changed two nice numbers! We are very happy. And the whole team worked really hard on them. I hope the future will bring more such moments to the team.”
For his part, the Cuban winger of the “red and whites”, Hidalgo, added: “I am very happy here, with Rafa, that we are sharing this moment, in this beautiful stadium of Olympiakos, in Rentis. Two years ago, it was 30 (including leagues) and 25 (including Cups), now it’s 32 and 26. And of course, the Challenge Cup. I’m excited to be here, the last two seasons have been fantastic, a lot of hard work and this year especially. A lot of hard work, a lot of battles, a lot of good and bad times, but we left our best on the field. Our efforts were rewarded. Two wonderful years, which I shared with this beautiful man here (s.s. Koumentakis). Really, we thank Thyra 7, the Olympiakos community for the support. We are making history.”
