Castellani: “Sad to leave Olympiakos” – Piraeus’ “thank you”

In the past, it is officially the Daniel Castellani for Olympic.

Piraeus announced –as expected– her completion of their collaboration with the Argentinian technicianwho was at their helm for one season, leading them to win the double.

“I’m sad, for sure, to leave, I’d love to be here, I’d love to continue here“, pointed out the 63-year-old coach, whom Olympiacos thanked for his offer to the club.

OLYMPIAN S.F.P. announces the completion of his collaboration with Daniel Castellani. The Argentinian coach, who took over the technical leadership of the Men’s Volleyball team in the summer of 2023, brought significant success to our club, but most importantly, he brought morals, dignity and respect. The 63-year-old coach spent one season at Thrylos, in which he won the championship and the Greek Cup. In addition, our team, led by Daniel Castellani, made a great European run, with an excellent presence at the top level, in the group stage of the Champions League, while continuing to the “8” of the CEV Cup. The “red and white” family warmly thanks Daniel Castellani and wishes him success in his career and of course, in his big dream!

Daniel Castellani’s “farewell” to Olympiakos: “A great and special season. A season that had many emotions, intense, many that I will remember. We started with Europe, we did a great job and showed how competitive we are. We could do something more! We had good moments in the season and bad moments, but in the end, we improved, we concentrated, we won the league, we won the Cup. After the Cup final with Milos, the team played exceptionally well, with huge confidence and strength. I came later in the season, because of the obligations I had with the National team, it was a bit difficult for me, but when I got here, the team was ready, it was united, with chemistry. I needed some time to adapt to the team and put my characteristics into the ensemble. The whole team, the players, the staff, everyone, supported me, helped me and we did a great job. I am very happy to be here. I had heard a lot about this team, about this club, about the history of Olympiakos, from friends, from coaches, from many people. It’s true what I heard! Olympiacos is a fantastic club, a wonderful club, huge, a very great sporting family. Olympiacos has the culture, the philosophy that I like, the mentality of the winner! It is my great honor and pleasure to be here, even for one season. I’m sad, for sure, to leave, I’d love to be here, I’d love to continue here. However, life sometimes has some things in store for you, some gifts. And in this period, I am close to my dream as an athlete, but also as a coach, to work in Japan. Mixed feelings, really. On the one hand, it is a joy that I will fulfill my big dream, but on the other hand, it is difficult for me to part with this team, this family, these people that I worked with here. It’s not easy. Olympiacos is a highly professional team, you can’t… leave here, it’s really very strange and difficult for me. Right now, it’s hard to describe my feelings exactly.
