by

THE Jose Luis Mendiliber spoke at the press conference ahead of Olympiakos’ rematch with Aston Villa.

The Basque coach referred to tomorrow’s match, stressing how all his players must be focusedwhile then he also thanked her Seville who removed him, otherwise, as he said, he would not be in Piraeus now.

His statements in detail:

On whether this is the biggest match of the year: “I hope not. I hope there is one more.”

For the score of the first match and the difficulties of the match: “It is our obligation to be focused. In the previous phase we had lost and then scored 6 goals. This is a typical example and tomorrow we have to be serious”.

On whether the roles are reversed after winning the first match: “No, the roles haven’t changed much. A qualification is judged in 2 matches. Aston Villa will play hard to qualify, as we want to do. Both have chances.”

For what the team can achieve: “I can talk about as long as I’m here. We have a very good team. The players are starting to believe in themselves and when you do that things can go better.”

For his and the team’s actions: “I have been a coach for 30 years. I am a 20 year old professional and I know how to manage situations. I thank Sevilla for sacking me because otherwise this wouldn’t have happened. If I hadn’t left I wouldn’t be here. None of this would have happened if our players didn’t deserve it.”

For Emery: “20 years ago we played for the first time as rivals. It happened to be the first time we had climbed. I have changed less than him. We have played many times and the matches were balanced. I don’t think the differences were that big. The thing is that Emery thinks how he can exclude us and that is a weapon.”

About the presence of the world and what message it sends: “The message is that we will give everything to bring joy to the world. We have felt it so many times that people help us. We will give it our all. We know very well what this moment means for our world.”
