In his first statements on the Olympiakos websiteAndrea Gardini, expressed his joy and satisfaction at taking over the fortunes of the club, while referring to the fans of the team, but also to the goals ahead of the new season:

“First of all, for me it is a great pleasure and honor to be the coach of Olympiakos, a great and historic club for all of Europe. I have many amazing memories from Greece and Athens. There we won the World Championship in 1994, a European Championship and in particular, the Champions League final against Olympiacos in the amazing SEF, packed with Olympiacos fans!

Incredible atmosphere. Truly, the best fans I have ever seen in my long career, so far! Of course, Ravenna were an amazing team and we won an incredible final. I know that Olympiacos always has as a team goal to be at the top everywhere. In the championship, Olympiacos always wants the title, it wants to win gold medals continuously.

And this is our goal in the new season as well. Of course, it will be a tough challenge. Nothing will be easy. However, I am still in the sports world because I like challenges! The only thing I promise to all our fans is that we will work hard all season and our team will fight in every match, until the end, whether we win or lose. We will give it our all, we will never give up. Last but not least. It is a great pleasure for me to come to work in Greece, the birthplace of Democracy and European culture! I’m excited, I’m sure it will be a great experience.

See you soon. Let’s have a good volleyball.”
