The Deputy Minister of Health, Irini Agapidaki, confirms the criticism of PASOK and its President Nikos Androulakis for the state of the National Health System during the governance of the New Democracy, reports the Charilaou Trikoupi.

Problems not addressed by “patches” and communication fireworks. In addition, citizens have their own opinion on the discredit of the National Health System under New Democracy, as they pay the second highest private health costs in the EU.

Over 40% of surgical beds remain closed due to lack of staff according to the Panhellenic Medical Association, clinics are under-functioning and emergency rooms are only available thanks to the honorarium of doctors and nurses. At the same time, the leadership of the Ministry of Health is putting the private sector out of the window by commercializing the NHS.

It’s a pity that Ms. Agapidakis.

As for the *Recovery Fund*, it is known that while other European countries used 8-10% of the Fund’s total resources to strengthen public health, the government of New Democracy chose to give half. This is also indicative of its priorities, PASOK concludes in its announcement.

What did Irini Agapidaki say?

In a post on social media, she says:

“I am glad that Mr. Androulakis vindicates the choice of the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis to proceed with the biggest infrastructure upgrade of the National Health Service since 1983. And I thank him for giving me the opportunity to inform you, as well as him, that the renovation and upgrade of Health Center in Spili Rethymno has already been contracted, the project has a budget of 1.5 million euros, the study is delivered in July and the work starts in September.

Why yes, we know that we have to invest in the infrastructure of the NHS. And that is exactly what we are doing, through the Recovery Fund. That is, through “Greece 2.0″ ironically mentioned by Mr. Androulakis, but literally it will contribute to the complete renovation of the specific Health Center in a few months”.
