Richards: ‘We made history last week but we need a lot of work tonight’

by

THE Omar Richards spoke to “Sun” ahead of Olympiakos’ crucial rematch with Aston Villa, tonight (22:00) at “G. Karaiskakis”.

The 26-year-old initially stated that his team Unai Emery believes that nothing is over yet and that they will enter the second game to make the upset, while he also commented on his teammate Ayoub El Kaabi.

Everything he said in detail:

“Villa have that British mentality and even though they’re two goals behind, they’ll never think it’s game over. We have only played the first half of the semi-finals. I know they will come out even stronger in the replay and I have warned the boys that we have to be ready for any reaction.

Leaving Villa Park with a two-goal lead was very important and will help us in the second leg, but Villa still believe they can turn it around. We made history last week, we took the first step. But the second game still needs a lot of work. Everyone is obviously very happy and it is important to win in the first match.

We played without fear at Villa Park. We went with a good plan, implemented it and had early success. We grew in confidence, made it difficult for them and generally had our chances. Ayoub El Kaabi scored a hat-trick and showed what a good player he is. He hasn’t stopped running, he’s taking advantage of his opportunities and he’s a beast.”first reported and continued:

“We can’t say that Villa underestimated us, we played very well. When they made it 2-2 we stayed focused and that will be very important again at home. There were a lot of attacks from my side and I tried to stay in the game, not to make a mistake.

We stuck to our plan and worked on it. We came back with two more goals and fixed everything.”
