Top male and female athletes from 28 countries will be on the sidelines of the “Konstantinos Baglatzis” stadium for the “Dromea” athletics meeting on May 15 to compete for performances that will help them win a place at the European Athletics Championships in Rome and the Olympic Games in Paris.
The meeting this year has been upgraded to the “Silver” category of the world federation and the goal of the organizers is to upgrade it even more and become “Gold”. The reconstruction of “Konstantinos Baglatzis”, which was announced during the event’s press conference by the Mayor of Vari, Voula, Vouliagmeni, Grigoris Konstandellos, is expected to help in this.
The international athletics meeting “Dromea” is a joint organization of the Municipality of Vari, Voula, Vouliagmeni and the Dromeas Vari association. “We are proud of this sports co-organization, which is one of the most important classic sports meetings in our country. The extroversion movements of our city also include the “Dromea”. The 2025 event will be even better because the stadium will be modernized and a new tartan will be installed. I would like to congratulate the initiators of the idea, Haris Papadia and Ariadni Dada, who live to support sports”, stated, among other things, the Mayor of the region.

The points given by the “Tracks” for the international summer competitions are a “lure” for many sportsmen and women from all over the world. “Champions with many distinctions will take part in the event. The president of EAS SEGAS Athens, Charalambos Georgakopoulos, also wished good success to the athletes. “To organize meetings at this level, you need people who love sports and support from the agencies. We will be next to the organizers to help in whatever is needed.”
The press conference was also attended by three of the leading current Greek champions. Raphaela Spanoudaki, Elisavet Pesiridou and Panagiotis Trivyzas mentioned the importance for athletes to compete in a high-level competition in their country. “At the “Dromia” we get good results because we have a good time. The event helped us to gain confidence for the matches abroad”, emphasized our champions.
Panagiotis Trivyzas revealed that the “Dromia 2024” will be the last he will compete in, as after the current season, he will “hang up” his championship shoes.
The international athletics meeting “Dromea” is a joint organization of the Municipality of Vari, Voula, Vouliagmeni and “Dromea” Vari. This year, the World Athletics Federation upgraded the event from “Bronze” to “Silver”. It will distribute prizes of 50,000 euros and will be held under the auspices of SEGAS and the Ministry of Sports.
