From Wednesday until next Sunday, the Pre-Olympic European table tennis tournament for the singles event is taking place in Sarajevo, a great competition date that always brings out the desire, but also the anxiety of excellent athletes from the continent for qualifying for the Olympic Games.

Greece of seven consecutive Olympic participations will, of course, also be in the capital of Bosnia/Herzegovina to “chase” passionately the increase of the remarkable streak. She will be present with Panagiotis Gionis, Yiannis Sgouropoulos, Katerina Toliou and Elisabeth Terpou, who will fight for the biggest goal of every athlete.

Together with the men’s national coach, Kostas Vatsaklis, Gionis traveled to Sarajevo from Dusseldorf and the Germans’ short-day training camp, while the rest of the athletes left on Monday night from Athens with the women’s national coach, Giorgos Karytsa.

Gionis of the five Olympic Games, who since 2008 has succeeded in every such mission, Toliou, who has vast experience in this process since 2012 and is still giving everything for an Olympic qualification, and the pioneer in the great event , Terpu, who, having managed to secure her participation in Sarajevo, is also entitled to dream of herself in Paris 2024. Sgouropoulos of course struggles with his own serious claims.

The European Olympic Singles Qualification Tournament will take place at the “Sport Arena” of the “Hotel Hills Complex” and will gather 46 men and 44 women. A maximum of two athletes and two athletes are declared by each national Olympic Committee. In both the one and the other category, 26 countries have declared their representatives, without of course being the same, since there will not be any regional powers, which have already secured places for the singles by qualifying for the team. The draw for stage 1, which includes groups, takes place on Tuesday.
