The first step towards qualifying for the semifinals of the Stoiximan Basket League playoffs took place on Wednesday night Pigeon bwinwhich prevailed with characteristic ease 79-63 of Colossus Rhodes in “Andreas Papandreou”.
With versatility in attack and with many points in transition and in second chances, his whole Vasilis Spanoulis completely dominated the team from Rhodes, making it 1-0 in the series and now has the chance to qualify for the semi-finals next Saturday (18/05, 17:15) at Klisto of Kallithea.
The first scorer for the winners was Mitrou-Long with 12 points, while valuable help was given by Hoogaz (10p., 8p.) and Rungland, with the latter reaching the double-double with 9 points and 10 assists. For Kolossos, he stood out Brajkovic with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Pigeon bwin entered the match very strongly and with his “ally” his long shot and the three-pointers of Williams, Hugaz and Ragland, he took the lead with 12-8 at 4′. The entry of Jermaine Love on the floor gave speed and freshness to the hosts, and with six straight points from the American guard, they increased the difference to +7 for 20-13, before Polley and Renfro shaped the 22-15 in the first quarter.
His reaction Colossus came at the beginning of the second period, where through the defense and spearheading Brajkovic, he not only gnawed away at the difference, but also went in front for the first time score with 25-24 at 14′. Somewhere in there, his team Vasilis Spanoulis “awakened” and with three consecutive three-pointers – two by Mitrou-Long and one by Hugaz – they took the upper hand in the score (33-27). With Brajkovic fighting all alone, the Rhodians didn’t have much of a chance to reduce the gap, which resulted in Peristeri bwin going to the dressing room with +14 for 44-30.
With Brajkovic continuing to be “hot” and at third quarter, having Perantes as his worthy supporter, the Rhodesians quickly gathered the difference for 48-39 at 23′. However, Peristeriotes did not allow their opponents to gnaw the score any further, and with Dangubic and Elaiza Mitrou-Long, they kept the difference in double figures. In fact, with a partial score of 9-3 in the last three minutes, they succeeded and for the first time raised the difference to +16, thus closing the period ahead with 66-50.
In the fourth and final period, Peristeri bwin handled this significant lead extremely well, not allowing Kolossos to cut back and get back into contention for the match. Instead, Renfroe and Rungland produced excellent partnerships, reaching even at +20 (79-59), before getting the win with the final 79-63.
